Exercise doesn't just lose weight it converts that fat into muscle, also sweating is good to helping to get rid of the salts and extra water your body could have stored up. Dieting is also a bad idea, since your body is used to a certain amount of fat coming into it, it may not respond to well to a sudden drop in fats and sugars. Tricking your body is also a way to lose weight, your body may taste a sweet food but the food could have no sugar in it at all so your body will naturally use what it thinks it has. Try to eat more natural substances and never say 'no' to food. I prefer 'not now', sometimes we think we are hungry and really we are just craving food and some times we will feel a slight hunger pain but instead of eating what is necessary we over eat. Also, you don't have to eat every bit of food on your plate, you can always request a ***** bag or not eat it at all. Little rewards for not over eating like getting a donut or ice cream will help you in building self esteem.
Excercise is important but you don't have to be able to lift 200 pounds start small eventually you build stabilizing muscles and those muscles will help you to lift more weight. Also, exercising with a friend or when listening to music helps you to ignore the slight pains you feel while working out.

Weight will pile on rapidly if your caloric intake far exceeds the number of colories your body is burning. Your system may burn its food very efficiently. In otherwords, it takes few calories to make your body run. That is bad news for your waistline.

The other issue you mention, the slow weight loss is due to a phenomena called 'insulin resistance'. Insulin is that substance in our body that helps us burn the sugars instead of storing them. It also helps us burn the fat stored in our fat cells. With the case of Insulin Restistance, the cells don't respond to the prompting of the insulin to give up their fat.

There is a way to break down that insulin resistance. If you are diabetic or past the age of 45, I would do this under the supervision of a doctor. Remove all starch and sugar from your diet for two weeks. Eat all the vegetables you want and lean meats, fish and eggs. Then add back the starches, but only choose starches that have at least 3 grams of fiber per serving. Stay away from the sugar and bleached flours. A good diet that operates on this principle is the South Beach diet. You can get the book at any bookstore.

You can only burn so many calories in one day, but there is no limit to how may you can consume.

It takes 3500 calories to lose/gain a pound.

You only burn a couple hundred for an hour of running. The body can burn anywhere from 1900-2100 in a day on its own (the more in shape you are, the more it burns on its own.)

A typical meal can consist of 1000 calories or more. McDonalds menu item meals can range even higher than that.

Lets say your body burns 2000 calories a day just to function. You can eat up to that amount of calories, and you will not gain weight. Anything over that amount gets stored as fat.

So if you eat three McDonalds meals in one day, you get about 3000 calories - thats 1000 more than your body needs.

in about three days that equals a pound of weight gain. That would take you about 5 hours of running to burn off, but probably only took about 1 hour to eat. Extra calories become fat.

that doesnt even include the fat grams in these meals that are being stored instantly, as well as any snacking between meals. for instance oreos, chips, candy. That could be anywhere from another 200-600 calories extra - 1-3 hours worth of running!

So that goes to show that exercisign is important, but eating healthy is even more important.

To lose weight, a person has to reduce the calorie intake by some amount by modifying their diet. A diet without sufficient nutrients will only increase the appetite of the person trying to lose weight. Since most people combine a diet with an exercise plan, additional nutrients are required for the growth of muscles required to increase the metabolic rate required for long term weight loss. I ask myself that every time I reach for another cookie.

And the answer is always the same.
Because we keep eating, the same thing that makes us fat.

You can drop weight, more fast.
If you eat certain foods more less.

Before you body has a chance to attack the "fat."
You turn around and give it more "fat."

Fat is nothing but food, your body could not use (just yet).

Try going without the most fattening thing you do, for one MONTH, and if that's too hard, try just one week.

Whether its bread, cheese, snacks, soda, or fast food.
What ever you do the MOST of daily/weekly

CUT IT OUT FOR A MONTH/WEEK.
NOT EVEN A SIP, OR NIBBLE.

You will definitely lose 2-6lbs in a month. I guarantee.
And, I dare you.

If you take in more calories from food than you burn with exercise, you gain weight.Think of your body like the gas tank of a vehicle. If you fill up the gas tank and leave the vehicle in the driveway, the gas will last longer than if you drive. Same thing with weight. If you fill your body with fuel and do not exercise, the weight will accumulate faster than if you fill up and burn it.
