Armenian is NOT derived from Persian or Greek. Armenian is an independent Indo-European language on its very own branch of the tree. Proto-Indo-European began to break up into different languages about 6000 years ago. One of those languages was the ancestor of Armenian. This language did not divide into other languages and continued to evolve by itself until today it is represented only by Modern Armenian.

A previous answerer has indicated a good website, but I do not agree that Armenian could derive from Greek or Persian; the fact that these languages have originated from another one exactly excludes the possibility that they have derived from each other. Persians and Greek people lived in Armenia since ancient times and preserved their own language and culture until present times.

I do not know whether you heard about that but Armenians are very proud having so ancient and original alphabet: http://www.omniglot.com/writing/armenian.htm
It illustrates too how old is Armenian language.

I believe from Persian and Greek since both are Indo-European languages.

OK, Alexander the Great left Greek behind when he conquered the land where Armenia resides today.

When the Indo Europeans settled what is now Greece around 1200 BC - their language was the ancestor to Greek. That language was related to Armenian, Modern Greek and Persian.
