Hi, No you don't. Everything else stays the same. Once our kids were grown and out of the house I cut my recipe in half too. Enjoy that warm bread!

you can't cut down the amount of time for resting and baking just because you cut the recipe in half. If it says to bake for 30 minutes, then bake it for 30 minutes or it won't be done! Doesn't matter how much you put in the oven. The only way what you want would work would be if you cut a whole ham or something in half. Then you cut down the cook time cause you are suppose to cook hams by the pound. But breads, cakes, and such don't work that way.

If you cut a recipe in half regarding the ingredients you still need to keep the cooking time and temperature the same or the recipe will not turn out right.

Funny Question. Most people want quick and easy ideas. I suggest you try making something completely from scratch. For instance, make burritos but with tortillas that you rolled out and made yourself, salsa that you made yourself, and guacomole that you made from scratch as well. You could do the same thing with any number of traditional foods. Alternatively, you could try to make your own ravioli or something. There are some difficult recipes for ethnic foods. It would be cool to have some family or friends over for a meal like that.

It cuts the time but not in half. It's a surface area to volume thing and it's a heating element thing.

No, just the measurements are halfed, but if your dough is smaller, then your cooking time may vary, watch it whilst it's in the oven.
