she hates spiders, daddy log legs, flys and all other manner of creepy crawlies, she cannot have them at all, and has my head wrecked chasing bugs around the house all night.
The house is clean, no dead bodies under the stairs or anything like that. they don't bother me, they probably do more good than bad i tells her, but will my dear listen? can anyone please suggest a repelent or assure her that they will not make our bed thier home or leave eggs in her Barnet that in fact spiders are harmless and they WILL NOT KILL HER!!!

Sprays n stuff can bring on runny noses n sneezes. I know as I recently seem to have become prone to (indulging myself!) in these. Does my wife note this or appear to care...?

I'll give you two goes at guessing the answer.

I heard recently an old remedy for spiders, and that is simply the 'piercing of a conker with a pin and leaving them in corners.'

I know no more than that, so please don't ask anything further.

However, webs spun by spiders help to keep down those things which fly around the place, so by eradicating the former you'll be encouraging the latter ....if n you want!

Choose which you (she) prefers.

Spiders (the UK) variety ''do no harm to human beings.'' In fact, human beings (when they ''freak out'') can do more harm by scaring the 'bejazzus out of human beings,' which is neither a pleasant sight or thing to be experience.

Best of luck.
Sash.

I wage war on flies. Dirty things vomit all over your food having been noshing on a turd or a rotting carcass. The spiders do a good job of keeping flies and other bugs at bay by eating them. They do not eat humans, they will not drag your girlfriend off into the crack under the window, they will not lay eggs in her hair or her ears.Spiders like dark quiet corners where they won't be disturbed a an hysterical human, so they are unlikely to get into bed with her.

I'm the same as your girlfriend, I have purchased a plug in repellent from the internet and must admit surprisingly they do work! Also I especially don't like spiders and was once told that spiders tongues are on their feet and that they can't stand citrus flavours thus if you spray a fine layer of citrus juices in areas where they are likely to come in the house they are deterred! ie anywhere dark and damp, doorways and air vents.

best thing to do is keep cleaning the house. kill all bugs as soon as u see them or take them away if your a pasifist. either way make sure they can never return to your house. tell your girlfriend not to worry so much.also dont leave doors and windows open when the lights are on inside this attracts them. hoover up all cobwebs and the spiders will not be able to eat anything and will die of starvation or move somewhere where they wont be disturbed

I know how she feels. I read somewhere that daddy long legs do bite and as you know flys spread germs so I don't like them in my house. I was watching How Clean is your House with that Aggie woman and her mate. They suggested Citrus oil (I think) sprayed on window ledges and spiders won't walk over it.

the truth is that a dady LONG leg is poisonis, but not from his bite. there is poison in his butt and the only way to get it to kill you is to have that poison injected into your blood somehow. i personaly hate bugs. i completely understand her. i hate to think about the sound of that "crunch" when a bug is killed. i have nightmares about spiders. THey are just gross. if you really love her, tell her you hate them too. Pretend you are totaly freaked out about them, but dont make a big deal about it when you see a bug. if she really believes you are scared of them and she sees that you can calmly kill them, then she will learn to take an example from you. show her the proper reaction. i dont scream anymore when i see a bug. if no one is there to kill it for me, i usualy catch it in a plastic cup and throw the thing outside. i cant bear to kill them yet.

She doesnt have to touch them but maybe if you help her get to know them and see the neat things about them she will make peace and they can coincide happily, there are good documentary's and projects for learning relating to bugs and critters....they won't kill her, most won't. but she may kill them,
so she needs to learn about them instead and prevent them from even wanting to live in the same house by not attracting them inside and keeping the conditions of which they like

here is one idea

there is a electronic devise that lets out a sound like they have for dogs that repel bugs. get a few of them, but here is the down fall. if you have any pets it might irritate them and if you are sound sensitive it may also effect you. if none of those things happen. try that option. who knows if you do that and she looks at it as a safety devise ( like a placebo) it may also relax her from paying attention to bugs.

It's a man's job to protect us fragile ladies from horrible things like spiders, just keep splatting them and try using a "bug bomb"
