I see it as a man desperately trying to justify his foreign policies by referring to delusions of grandeur. Instead of actually seeing the situation for what it is. He has become the very entity he claims to want to rid the world of!

The country is more conservative at the moment, but it's starting to swing the other way again. The Conservatives have pushed through by both instilling a sense of fear in people and cow-towing to the Religious Right. However, people are starting to see through that BS.

The country will always swing between more conservative people who hate change and more liberal people who embrace change. It will always swing more liberal than conservative. Change always wins out in the end.
