i asked him on this past tuesday. we're still talking but as time goes on, my hope that he'll say yes is fleeting. people say that he is going to say yes but who really knows. and he hasn't been acting weird around me. idk, maybe he is telling the truth although i've used that line before when a guy asked me. for me, that means he wants to see what his friends think about us going. we're not the best of friends. just a guy i met when we played sports together and we now talk now and then. advice?

I don't think you should wait for him. Usually when a guy wants to go out with you, he'll say yes. On top of that, you're the one who asked him.

Although there's nothing wrong with women asking, we still live in a conservative society where it's usually the guy who asks. If he's stalling on you, he's either not interested in you or indecisive.

Either one isn't good. You don't want to take someone who doesn't seem to take interest in you because it means he won't respect you. If he's just plain indecisive, it'll be annoying waiting on him.

Did you ever watch "There's Something About Mary"? There's that beginning scene where Ted (Ben Stiller) asks that girl under the tree smoking a cigarette if she'd like to go to prom with him?

===
GIRL: Look, I heard this rumor that some guy likes, so I'm going to wait and see how it goes, but... Yeah.... Yeah.... That sounds great.

TED: So... Is that a yes...?

GIRL: I thought I made it perfectly clear. If everything falls apart... Maybe.

TED: I'm going to hold you to that!

You don't want to fall in to a Ted Situation.

I hear get the same type of runaround when people owe me money. When they need stuff from you, they call you all the time. Then when they borrow money, they stop calling you.

Personally, I think he's just leading you on because he doesn't have the courage to tell you no. If that's the case, you don't want to go to Homecoming with someone spineless and make you wait to figure it out and absolve him of any guilt for having taken an official position.

Lots of people engage in Avoidant Behavior to keep from getting into trouble. By couching terms in a way where it looks like there's something else rather than saying no, it covers their ass.

find another honey. Never never never ever ever ever wait on a boy, guy, man to make a decision on matters of the heart. There are just way too many out there to waste your precious time like that.

sounds to me like he is waiting for a different friend, or he is asking someone eles, and if they say no, he's going with you...
sorry, but it's true.
