It's flattering when a guy says your hot. But when a guy says I'm hot, it comes off as lustful and I think that he sees only my body and not my mind. My friend told me this great quote once:
"Boys lust after hot women but Men love beautiful girls."
If you really want to complement a girl tell her she's beautiful and MEAN it.
And no, not all girls are that gullible. We can tell you are faking it. For some of us it may take a while to figure out a guy is not telling the truth, but we eventually do.
