I know it has been asked before but most of the post were old. I am taking 200 mgs. From what I read on the other post that seems to be alot. I do believe it has helped me but I also drink and wonder how fast my liver will go down from using both. Thanks for any opinions.

I don't think your liver will be affected, though I am not a doctor. But take it from someone who was on the same dosage and also drank, it will seriously mess with your memory

If you take Zoloft don't drink alcohol. 200 mg is a lot -- you might want to discuss your medications and the use of alcohol with your doctor because you DO NOT want your liver to go.

they put me on that when i was a kid because i was growing up and got depressed sometimes so they offered me pills instead of talking to me or my parents taking responsibility to provide emotional support. my mom's a lab rat whenever she sees a commercial about anti depressants she's like ohh i want to be on that! she's convinced that she's a weak person and has a chemical imbalance in her brain so she needs pills to be able to cope with life. she's really gone downhill. she doesn't drink and she still has liver problems probably from all the anti depressants she's been on her whole life. i know some people are seriously ill and need medication but i think our society would rather have us ALL on pills, think about it years ago did you see so many commercials for anti depressants. the pharmaceutical companies are making bank off of it. i think it's really sad. my mother's numb and retarded now. i love her but she used to be more alive and intelligent before the pills. personally i would rather deal with the hard times and when it comes to pain.. i'd rather FEEL it. i'd rather feel everything even if it hurts than not feel anything at all. i'd rather get through the hard times and come out the strong happy woman i am today than be a zombie for the rest of my life.

The zoloft won't affect your liver, and that dosage isn't super-high.. I know people who have been on ALOT more.

The drinking, however, will have an effect on your liver, whether you take zoloft or not.

100 mg would be more "common." I don't believe drinking is encouraged when taking it.

I agree that Zoloft is a big help to many people.

Do what helps you, and don't listen to uneducated folks (like me) on this board, but do ask your doctor.

Good luck.

Your liver can go faster when drinking-it depends on your chemical make-up.
