If you are referring to references in Genesis that look plural (IE "Let us make human beings"...."our image"..."our likeness," etc.), the answer is that in ancient Semitic languages, such as Ugaritic, using a word in it plural form in some cases shifts the meaning of the word from the concrete level to the abstract.
So, the reference is only to one god.

God is alone at the top of creation, he can be approached from any distance, but never reached. There are as many "gods" among mans religions as there are religions. Every disembodied spirit can and very often is, called a "god" by those whom have encountered them, but the God of creation contains within himself all that is, and needs no "company" of any created entity.

A fundie will tell you that they were false "gods" powered by fallen angels. They existed, but were less powerful than Jehovah, as seen in several contests including the one in which Jehovah's snake ate the serpents that the "gods" of Egypt made from staffs.
God made the angels, including the fallen angels.

They are false gods that the people of the time worshipped. God was very angry by this, and hence the repeated occurances of His wrath shown throughout the Old Testament. People of that time worshipped all sorts of things other than God - especially idols.

Oh, you mean when he say "WE will create man in OUR image..." Yeah, fundies will attempt to say that this was God speaking to the Trinity (so, apparently this God is schizophrenic...) or speaking to angels or blah blah blah.....
Its all crap. God doesnt exist - either that, or his continuity editor for the Bible was a a smoke break when Genesis got published....

Manny, Moe and Jack.
Actually Spamandham (see below) is a little confused.
1) It's spelled Sumerian.
2) Those deities he mentions are Ugaritic deities, not Sumerian deities, although it is possible YHWH was a Midianite deity.

all of those gods were created by man. Not real, made of stone and wood and metals of all sorts. God the father is the true and living God.

They were originally the other Sumarian gods, of which YHWH was one. The early Hebrews honored a pantheon of gods consiting primarily of El (who was originally a different god than YHWH), Ashera, YHWH, and Baal.

They were idols.
Satan was called Baal, and the men and women invented a wife for him and called her baalel.
They also had gods as in Egypt, as they worship the sun, and other "objects", thinking that there were "living".
The LORD knew that they would worship "objects" as gods, so that was the reference.
I wish you well..
