JUST DO IT!!!!! :)

it will eventually get on your schedule, you will deal with potty training a bit longer than "usual" but you need to know that he will have accidents, and it may not be his fault, lot's of training, and get down to business when you are home. Do not always feel sorry for him, and let him run ramped...training is attention too!!!! Good luck!

I have 3 well behaived dogs, on a full time schedule...potty training is my biggest issue...just deal with it... :)

When I was working full time, my bearded collie was kept in a 4 foot by 4 foot ex pen during the day. He had newspapers at one end and a bed at the other. Once he was reliably housetrained and old enough that he could hold it all day (and by then he was of course done teething as well) he had the run of the house.

He was walked in the morning before everyone left, had a long walk in the evening, with time also for playing and show and obedience training to keep his mind occupied. There was never an incident of him destroying anything in the house and he was happy.

A few questions: big or small? If small do you have a patio with a small section of grass or bigger for it to run around and poop/pee in? If it's a big dog do you have a large yard for it to run around in & poop/pee in? If you dont have a big dog and you want to keep it in the house then i segjust locking it in a room where u dont mind it poop/peeing in and maybe set some newspaper down so it can do its bisnus. If its a puppy then i segjust getting someone to take care of it for you while you're at work. (trust me, puppies can cause more damage in your house then a crowd of don't care who's house this is football players.)

It's not easy so I know that this is very hard, trust me I know it is a delicate balance of skills. You have to spend as much time as possible with them and I have given in to her sleeping with me at night because I feel like I don't spend enough time with her as I should. I don't think that this helps at all but I hope that you can find some good out of it.

First of all DON'T get a dog if you live in an apartment. If you have a house with a back yard, then no problem.

We crate trained both our dogs. During the day they do great! When we get home they know it is time to play and walk.

If you can afford it, the doggie daycare is heaven. Your dog gets the exercise that he/she needs, as well as socialization.
