Either you need a spanking (or your child needs a good spanking... I don't know who said it to you) as in tanning your backside with a paddle...
or that you are white and pasty and you need to get a tan,

depends on the contect of what they said. It could mean you need a tan (go in the sun to get a suntan). Or it could mean having your hide tanned, which means a spanking on the bum.

they believe looking tan is healthy - sometimes people look really pale which is equated to sickly. some of us can 't be in the sun, but society says tan people look good.
