Cockatiels.
I love them. Easy to care for, affordable, can learn to talk, and are a joy to own.

Birds are messy. Right down to the smallest... yes, their mess is smaller... but it is still a mess.
There is no guarantee that any bird will talk but the larger ones have the higher tendancy.... but they are also louder, and messier and require much more work. While living in a flat, I would recomment getting something small and quiet like a cockatiel. A conure can be quite vocal and the neighbors would probably not appreciate it. Or a lovebird. Or a parakeet. None of these birds are great speakers but occasionally one will pick up a couple words. Usually the male and as long as there is only one bird.
This would be a good time to find out if the care of a bird would be to your liking. The bigger the bird, the bigger the cage and the bigger the cage, the bigger the clean up. And I don't just mean the feed that is strewn all over the place or the way they can magically poop outside the cage bars, I mean having to properly clean the cage out doors.
Stick with something small and easy to care for while you are living in a apartment. It is significantly more convenient!

Mynah birds can be very messy. A budgie is easier to keep but only the males seem to be able to learn to speak.

Get a tame Lovebird! they are cute and colorfull, not too hard to look after, sing lovely, and if hes tame he will fly over onto your shoulder and play with you when hes bored. They really are cute birds, maybe you should research more about them. The only problem is you have to clean them out and pay them alot of attention or they might get bored or go into a depression.Good luck!!

budgies, love birds and cockatiels are all good choices, However, a love bird has a very shrill cry, and be can become quite annoying..... but, they are also very sweet, affectionate, and loving...any bird will be noisy unless given proper attention, None of the smaller breeds are great talkers..... much better at whistling, but all are affection beyond belief when given proper attention, you won't even miss the fact they don't much talk when watching their amusing behavior.....

I think you should invest in a budgie. I know you may have heard they can't talk but i had one as a child and it could sing to theme tunes which is just as good as talking.
I have a pair of lovebirds and they are amazing.
Anyway have fun searching for a bird.

Get a male budgie. They can be taught to speak, and be affectionate toward humans, but you must stimulate them properly.
