Those are old wives tales. They also used to say taking a bath is bad for your health! Ewww! Do yourself a favor and be EXTRA clean during your period.

♥♫♦♪ Yes that is what was said to most of us and the reason is, Is because while you have your period your pores are more exposed like they are open and that is why while you have your period you are sometimes cold because you are losing blood instead of gaining it. Now as far as washing when I have mines I go that extra mile because I really want to be so fresh and so clean especially at that time. I wash at least three times, in the morning when I leave and when I come home and then before I go to bed. I think I try a little too much because at that time i pull out the Victoria Secrets, FDS, Noraforms, Baby Powder then I am great Like Tony the Tiger, I have to do this because I have a husband that I sleep with, Even though we been together 8 years I still go that extra mile. I hope that You don't' listen to them. I hope that I have helped you.♥♫♦♪

um, whoever is telling you this is gross. I have no idea why they'd tell you that. Hygenically you should be bathing just as much as you regularly do or possibly more if you feel the need when you have your period.
There is no scientific reason to not bath. The only time I can think of someone recommending not bathing/showering is when you get a perm.

That's just wrong. Of course you should bathe and wash your hair.
BUT sometimes if you soak in a hot bathtub while on your period, it makes your flow much heavier than it would normally be.

because they are being stupid. you're not going to hurt anything by bathing or having a shower or washing your hair. trust us. i have had a period for 15 years now and there is no harm in washing. in fact if you dont, that's going to be rather nasty. soap away sweetheart, nothing bad will come of it, i promise!

My mom told me that, but it's only the first day that you can't wash your hair. Supposedly because you could catch a cold on your first day of your period. But you can bath!

Who said that?? Your Grandma? That isn't true. Maybe they are thinking somehow water will go up inside you and give you some sort of infection. If that is the case, every time you bathe water will go up inside you. I would be dead if this was true and so would thousands of other women. So an old tale was told to you.

This statement was made years ago for women that didn't .have enough heat in their homes. Women going swimming in real cold water during their period seems to effect their system. The issue is the body being wet and cold at the same time. Your body temperature is effected through you head, feet and hands

I have never heard that before! When I'm menstruating I take a shower in the morning and a very hot bath in the evening (to relieve cramping and to hurry up the process) But in all my years I have never heard that myth/statement before.
