Even before I saw your second part of the question, I said to myself "Sam Adams!!!" It's making my mouth water just thinking of a nice cold "Boston Lager" right now. The Sam Adams "Honey Brown" is pretty damn good too. Please excuse me now while I run to the fridge! Yuengling, (a small central Pennsylvania brewer) puts out a pretty good lager too. If I walk into a bar, and see Yuengling on tap, you can bet I'm having a pitcher, or maybe two!
