Do you burn more calories walking on a road than on a treadmill?

You burn more calories walking on the road. The treadmill will actually pull your leg back into extension for you to some extent, requiring less energy spent by you in order to walk. On the road, you have to do it yourself.

However there are ways that you can burn more by walking on a treadmill than on the road. You can adjust the speed or the incline on the treadmill, forcing you to do more work & expend more energy and burn more calories than on the road.

So really either can be a good place for you to exercise. Pick one that you enjoy and are likely to stick to, and do often. Good luck!

I think I would burn more calories walking on a treadmill then on a road.

But I do like steppers better!!

Yes. When you're on the road, you have to push yourself to keep a pace whereas a motor does it on the treadmill. Plus, you burn calories cuz you're walking over bumps, around potholes, and against the wind.

Definitely treadmill. because you can set a speed and an incline,which you can not do on the road ! Not to mention you avoid pot holes, and all those pesty cars !

it depends on your spead on your treadmill vs. the road. i think it's about the same.
