There should a local pit rescue in your area, or perhaps a rott rescue (they will usually also take in pits)
If you want to keep your puppy, I suggest you start crate training him, this way you are around if he starts to rip the carpet and you can reprimand him. I also suggest you find a professional trainer that has experience with bully breeds, pits are smart dogs, and will learn very quickly, but you need to be diligent with training, especially with a dog with so much bad stigma.
Here is a wonderful pit site, I think it may be able to give you some good tips! http://www.pitbullsrevealed.com/

Sounds like he has a lot of time by himself maybe? I would just try to spend more time with him and get him all the chew toys you can afford. There are a lot of stores like Petsmart that actually let you take your pets in with you, so you could take him and even have him pick out his own toys. My dogs really like pig ears as gross as it sounds. In the end, it is just a puppy regardless of whether its a pit or not. Like someone else said, you could always call a rescue group. If you do just try and give it away to someone I would be very cautious, because there are lots of people that would want your lil' pup for really wrong reasons. Good luck, I hope everything works out.

Try this page.
http://www.animalrescuers.co.uk/html/dogbreed.html
It is a site for many breeds of dogs, but all the rescues specialise on one breed inparticular. If you cannot manage him, give him up now. I know and understand that this may be heartbreaking, but it is fairer on him. I work at a rescue, and believe me, it is much easier to train the puppy while he is young, but he clearly needs somebody with him all the time as he is only a baby.
You will probably find most help at Bull mastiff rescues, or bull terriers. Start with these, then ask at places for rottweilers and dogs with the same type of build etc etc.

First, you need to buy a crate and crate train hi. You need to keep him in the crate when you are not home or available to watch him. This will prevent his eating the house, so to speak!
Next, take him to obedience classes. They have them at Petsmart, the local shelter usually has a list of trainers in the area or you may have an obedience club in your area.
Many shelters must euthanize because of liability so please if you do need to find another home.... contact a rescue group. Ask for their help. And do not put an ad in the paper because your dog may be used for fighting or at the very least as a bait dog!
Hope I helped. Good Luck!

Keep him confined when you're not home. When you are home and he misbehaves treat him as you would a child, tell him no, bad dog, and give him a time out for 5 min. (I put my dogs in the bathroom for their time out). Dogs hate to be seperated from their pack and he will soon learn to behave so he wont get time outs. Dogs really just want to please their owners, you just need to teach him what is acceptable behaviour and what isn't. Also give him plenty of puppy toys to chew on, and maybe a Kong filled with stuffing, if he's acting out of boredom while you're gone.
Also, NEVER spank a dog, it just makes them hand shy and could make them agressive. You want a dog to know that hands are only for petting.

Pitbulls are awsome dogs can be intelligent with proper training.
They are severely stubborn and you got to let them know who is boss. I recommend spanking (not beating) but make sure you do it on the rear and turn his head away so he doesn't get hand shy, also for chewing I recommend The Kong .They are a guaranteed if your dog destroys it they replace it for free and it's great for there gums, mostly have patience..good luck!!

get a professional trainer involved. if you are willing to give up, already, you must be able to recognize pits are much different than any other dogs. if you must let him go, do a search for a pit bull rescue center.

The only way to do it is to give him a lot of attention. That means, you have to keep track of what it's doing and when it does something wrong stop him. Don't do it in an anry way, just let it know to stop. You have to do that often enough for it to get the message and idea. If you put enough attention to it, it will learn. Also, when it is tearing at something stop him and give him something to play with that it likes to tear at and that it's OK for him to tear at.
