In my opinion, definitely the bench press. The push up works the shoulders / triceps as well as the chest. One can argue that the bench press does the same, but the big difference is that push-ups are only done (generally) with your body weight. You can only do more of them, you can't, say, pop on another 10 pounds.

You can definitely make the bench press harder by adding more weight to it.

For chest strength continue to do both, but I'd focus on the bench press (and even use dumbbell presses too -- I find them even better for developing the pectoral muscle).

Also, hit your chest from a variety of angles -- including the incline / decline bench.

Both are beneficial! With push-ups you are using your own body weight to gain muscle, unless you but some weight plates on your back (ouch). With Bench press you can continually change how much resistance you are putting on your pecs! Also, With the bench press you can incline or decline the bench to target different areas of your pecs!

bench press is better for size and strenght but pushups can get you a lil more defined but it wont make you grow

sure, doing the two of those will strengthen your biceps, and would additionally help with your %. and middle muscle tissues finding on how extensive you plant your palms, meaning doing push united stateswill help strengthen bench press and vice versa
