I have a very strange habit where I will sit and gnaw on my tongue. I will feel around if there's any bumps, and then I will chew them off...which in turn creates more bumps, which I then chew...and so on. I've tried to look this up online and I cannot find anything! This is not because of my teeth, or anything else...I do this intentionally, yet I cannot stop doing it. I would love to stop doing this, but I don't know how, it's something I've been doing for many, many years.

I think that your habit has to do with nerves and/or stress. Just like how people chew on their nails or lip. I find myself doing that same thing sometimes...though not as extreme as you. I find that I always do it when I have a lot on my mind! I'm not even aware I'm doing it until it's too late and my tongue is hurting! Or, it might just be like a "tick". Some people just can't resist chewing their nails even thought it's ruining them! It sounds like a habit that will take a strong conscious effort from you to fix! Good luck with it!

I do something a little strange, I bite my bottom lip to the point of it bruising sometimes then when it's really sore, I can't leave it alone. The bruise can get so dark that it looks like I've been chewing the end of a pen! So perhaps I am as odd as yourself!...

I catch myself doing that all the time. I also bite my jaw. To the point where it makes me sore. Or sometimes I don't even realise I am doing it. I also have gotten in trouble at the denist for doing this.

I wish I could help you, I have never heard of this behavior before. But it's a compulsive behavior and you should consult a mental care specialist.

Possibly a mild case of Turette's. Look it up online and see if the symptoms match yours.
