Pop Rocks and they come in a packet . You can still buy them now they just don't have as much pop as they use to.

It was pop rocks when it came out in the US/Canada, and space dust when it come out in the UK.
I know because my friend had relatives in Canada who sent him some in about 1970 I think.
His playground status went up like a rocket.
