YES!!!
I come from a family of 14 brothers & sisters. You have to teach children right from wrong starting at a very young age. They have to be deciplined, but not abused. They will learn to love & respect you for not allowing them to misbehave. I do believe if you start teaching them early that you will find that spanking will hardly ever have to become an option. I have one son, and he hardly ever got a spanking, but when he needed one I always told him it would hurt me more than it did him. ( I really believe it did). My son is now 28 years old and a father of twins. He is well respected in our community and church. He is a fine husband and a wonderful father. I believe he is the person he is today because of what I did when he was a child. He always knew how much I loved him (he was and is my world) but you have to teach them. Please note that I absolutely do not condone whipping a child. There is a difference between dicipline and abuse. God Bless.

Of course. Spank, not beat. Keep in mind that with a very young child, the spanking has to immediately follow the bad action or the kid will have no clue as to why he's being spanked. I recall one spanking I got as a kid and for years I wondered why. Finally asked. It was for setting my room on fire (I was 4). But by the time they put the fire out and got around to spanking me, I didn't understand why.

This all depends on the child! All children are different! Of course they should be spanked as needed!

Be for a spanking is given I feel you should take a time out first! You do not want to be angry when you spank!

Of course they should. They shouldn't Beat their kids but spanking is a form of punishment for when the child refuses to listen. The Children I know who were not spanked when they were young are very bratty and snotty. They grow up to be the kids who smoke, do drugs, get in trouble, and drink alcohol because they were not taught that it is good to do what is right and that there are consequences for doing what is not.

I don't think that any situation needs to lead to hitting (spanking) a child. Talking to children is pretty amazing and it works. Then you get to understand why they did what they did and work through the problem instead of just cause more problems for the child down the line.

spanking most likely is not needed in most cases. something really important like running into the street, or touching the things on stove or iron. maybe smack there hand to get the major point across! other than that maybe time out or in the corner, loss of priveleges.

if they deserve one and you live in the right communitie or on the right side of the line and are using the spanking as a form of discipline and not control then follow this line "spare the rod and spoil the child " and "one bad apple spoils the bunch" so a rottend child is aint no good to those of us that are tired of this crap going on in OUR WORLD.

Should wives hit their husbands or husbands hit their wives?
Should we hit our friends if they do something wrong?

I doubt these people that think it's okay to hit children are able to fully understand the consequences associated with that.

No one should get hit... not a child, not a wife, not a husband, not a friend.

No one, not for any reason. ♥

Hit, not abuse...
Spank, not beat...
That's insane.

Parents need a lesson in patience, anger-managment and problem solving.

It worked for my grandad with my dad and he is the best dad in the world. It worked for my dad on me and I think I turned out good. And I have two awesome respectable teen kids that I used spankings on as they grew up and they are just great also. I feel with a track record like that, it has to be working. Tried and true results.

This is, and always be, an ongoing debate....I think it's all a matter of personal preference. Personally, I believe in the Proverb, "Spare the rod and spoil the child"
