If you look at Genesis 2:7 it shows that when god created adam he 'became' a living soul, it does not say he was 'given' a soul. Throughout the rest of the bible the soul is referred to in the same way, animals 'are' also souls Leviticus 24:18, and the soul can die Ezekiel 18:4. the idea that there is a part of us that can exist seperately - either before our birth or after our death - can be traced back to ancient babylon but it eventually found it's way into most of todays religions, but it is not what the bible teaches.

There is no such thing as a soul! It is arrogant for anyone to believe that they have an advantage over any other living thing. We are all made of cells, some more complex than others. That is the only difference between us and an animal or a plant. When we die, we decompose.. nothing more nothing less!
The soul is merely the faith that there has to be something more.
And there is nothing more.

it really is a tricky question to respond to. There are 2 faculties of theory that i will imagine of. One says that our souls exist and they pick a particular set of training and reports it needs to study in this airplane of existence and then comes in the course of the time of theory and is born. it fairly is why not each and every sexual bump into leads to a toddler.....the act occurs yet on condition that a soul ought to be born into that set of situations might want to theory easily ensue and a miscariage not ensue. once that existence is over the soul returns to the etherial airplane and may want to then come again infinite circumstances with a view to evolve and study. the subsequent view is that each and every individual has a particular soul to which in the present day of theory God breaths the breath of existence into the concepted being and that is the spark of existence that starts off the formation of that unique soul and the branch of cells that leads to a toddler. In that view, once the vessel for that soul dies, the soul is going on to this is next step which relies upon on your idea gadget as to heaven/hell/purgatory/deep sleep and so on.

Thinking that your spirit pre-existed your earthy life is a common Mormon idea. It is 180 degrees out of phase with what the Bible says..
Zech.12:1
The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.
Believe as you will.... Jim

It did not exist. You don't start to develop a soul until you are capable of making moral choices.
