why the pronunciation of ''oo'' in the word "blood" is different from the one in the words "wood" or "wool"?

It is difficult for me to learn the correct pronunciation in English. It seems there is no rules. Is it true? If there are rules, please teach me!

You plonker! The "oo" is pronounced the same in all those three words (blood, wood, and wool). Now stop being a fool, and go back to school, or I'll knock out a tooth.

English has words from many different languages and as a result the words that came from one language have one pronounciation for "oo" while the words from another have a different pronounciation for "oo."
