I definately believe in angels. I don't know if they help people connect to God, but I think that they look like ordinary people and just help you make better, wiser, decisions about life.
An old friend of mine just a year or two ago lost her grandfather. Her grandmother was devastated because they were two people who were 100% completely in love with each other. They were the little old couple who, just by looking at them, you could tell they have loved each other unconditionally for many many years.
The night after the funeral, her grandmother was sleeping and all of a sudden woke up and saw her husband smiling down at her. He whispered to her the little nickname he used to call her and told her he loved her, and she fell soundly back asleep.
Maybe it was a dream, maybe she was just dillusional from the loss, but I believe that it was his angel spirit. Believe what you want.

Yes, to all three. But I believe they come in all different types of forms, and not only do they do these 2 things you have mentioned but they also help guide you in one direction or another.

Yes, angels definitely exist; they aren't simply good people, and they are greater than we are. The Bible says, "What is man that you are mindful of him? ... You made him a little lower than the angels" (Hebrews 2:6-7).
Angels are a separate category of spiritual beings, created by God as His special messengers or helpers. They have many responsibilities, but one of their major tasks is to watch over God's people: "Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?" (Hebrews 1:14). Although they seldom take visible form, they are constantly involved in the ongoing conflict between good and evil. In the last days, Jesus said, "The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous" (Matthew 13:49).
While the Bible doesn't give us details about their origin, it seems that angels existed before the world was created, and through all eternity they will continue to serve and praise God. We are not to worship them, however, for only God is worthy of our worship (see Revelation 22:8-9).
Thank God for His angels, and for their watchful care over us; they are a sign of God's continuing love. But the greatest sign of God's love is Christ, for He alone went to the cross for our salvation. Is your hope in Him?
The Bible tells us that the angels were witnesses to the creation of the world, which indicates they were created long before that great event. God asked Job, "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation ... and all the angels shouted for joy?" (Job 38:4,7).
The important thing, however, isn't when God created the angels—but why He created them. The Bible tells us that the angels were created for one reason: to do God's will. To put it another way, they were created to be God's instruments or agents to carry out His work. (In fact, the word "angel" actually means "messenger" or "agent".) The Bible says, "Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word" (Psalm 103:20).
Just as the angels are largely unseen by us, so also is their work. I am convinced that when we get to heaven we will be amazed when we discover all the things God did through His angels—including their protection over us in times of danger. (This includes not only physical danger, but moral and spiritual danger, as well.) The Bible says, "For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways" (Psalm 91:11).
We aren't to worship the angels or give them too much attention; Christ alone is the source of our salvation. But thank God for His love for you—a love so deep that He sent His Son to die for your sins, and now sends His angels to watch over you.
