I just called him on the phone and asked why he hadn't been in contact.

It's because I'm American and his family hates America.

We can't be together because he's an immature baby and can't stand up to them.

What do I do? OH god.

He's Japanese, I'm American.

Actually ok. He didn't say that was the reason. He said there was "A reason." But wouldn't say what.

Maybe it's because he's 7 years younger, LOL.

Whatever you do make sure it makes sense for you. Lokk at what he has said and done, does it sound as if he is going to go against his family wishes? Do you want to be around a family that is going to treat you badly? Do you want an immature baby as your man? Think woman and quite whining and make a decision.

Re-read your letter and then think about why you would want to be with this person? Either it's true that his family doesn't want him dating an American -- in which case he isn't mature enough to stand up to his family or it's not true in which case he's a liar and he's blaming his family instead of just telling you that he doesn't want to date you anymore. So -- why would you want to be with a person who isn't mature or who lies?

Well tell him it's important for you to know the exact reason.

And if he doesn't tell you or it's not what you want to hear- maybe you should look into dating someone more mature, a little older- and someone independant that doesn't live life according to mommy and daddy.

what do you want him to do? other cultures seem to have alot more respect for tradition than Americans do. (not saying that's good or bad-just different) would you want him to be disowned by his family just to be with you? what if later on he grows to resent you because you cost him his family? its better to break it off now.

well if he didnt say it was because you were american, they maybe there is another reason and he just doesnt want to hurt your feelings. you dont want someone who doesnt want you--for whatever reason!! also... you people who say that people from other countries arent worth anything are horrible!!!! shame on you!!

Asian's are notorious bigots and racists, especially older people. The older generation of asians tend to want their children to keep to their own race and culture.

He respects his parents.. It has very little to do with you, and more about the culture he grew up in.

Find someone else. Why should he go against what his parents want, just to date you.

In America, many of us, like to go against the grain and do what "we," want, there are many cultures that actually RESPECT PARENTS!
