The whole world does NOT hate Americans -- don't believe the liberal media. For example, Japan is definitely an ally; they are counting on us to help defend them from the nuke-hungry Kim Jong-il of N. Korea.
As for your BF, who knows? Call him up and ask him.

Well, I gotta be honest with you...I have a very good friend of mine who was engaged to a Japanese woman and it was not a happy situation. I'm assuming that since he live sin Japan, he lives a very Japanese life (as opposed to Asians who have assimilated and are accustomed to a more traditional american style of living) which would lead me to believe that his family is probably soming down pretty hard on him about dating an American. While I would not say that it is a prejudice that Japanese have against Americans at all, from my experiences, it is more of a way of preserving a culture and passing down a rich heritage that they are concerned with. Family is very important, and their opinions way heavily, and he could be experiencing that right now..plus he IS on vacation and may be finding it difficult to find the means of communication right now.
I hope everything works out well, and if it doesn't than there is some one even better just around the corner!

First, that's very rude. He doesn't even contact you to see how you are doing or let you know how his vacation is.
I'd talk to him when he gets back...
I don't think it has anything with you being American.

Maybe your jumping to conclusions...It could me that he has no way of contacting you. It's all about trust; if he loves you i don't think it really matters if his parents like you or not. You will have a lot of time to win over his parents.
