Lots of people are 'hard working', what we've got today is 'Battle Of The Rhetoriticians'. BS doesn't get the roads built. The modern agricultural enterprises we have today that feed millions
would be difficult to maintain without the machinery that supports them, such machinery was designed by people that understood other 'laws', like physics, supply and demand, you can work your fingers to the bone in this life and not get anywhere, so maybe working smarter is superior to working harder.

Society's kind of a system, and if you let it all just fall apart, pretty soon you just have the people fighting over the leftovers. That's exactly what's happened in countries that haven't kept up at all with america, and it's questionable what our own future holds if we don't build enough schools to educate all the kids running around in our country today.

To answer your question directly, I would choose some legal americans. Managing growth would be especially important in starting a new country.

How old are you? No offense but your views are rather overly simplistic and very immature. I'm not trying to disrespect you but you've got to be kidding, right? Are you saying that everyone that is a citizen is lazy and dishonest? I've lived in Mexico as well as other countries but there are just as many lazy Mexicans, etc. as anybody else. Trust me . I was married to one! (joke. But I WAS married to a Mex.) You are stereotyping. BTW, illegal immigrants ARE NOT THE BACKBONE OF OUR COUNTRY. Perhaps what you mean to say is LEGAL immigrants. You can't mean ILLEGAL...that's impossible.
Your pilosophy 101 question needs a moral adjustment.
Have a blessed day... Juanita

If it was me doing the choosing, I would go on a person to person basis, not by illegals or legals.

ive always wanted to start my own civilization. I'd call it
"jenster land" and getting into jenster land would be strictly
based on an application system.
evevryone would get paid the same regaurdless of the job and of any one biched or complained they would be booted out of jenster land permently. im conviced i can make communism
work, i'll be the first one to do it.

The bigotry of yor question is apalling. There are "good and bad" in all groups. Most people, when given the chance, work hard for what they have. I work with a bunch of lazy white people. I have worked with lots of people since I was 14, 35 years, in several states. I have seen them all. Get out and do your experiment in the real world, you might be surprised.

Me personally? I'd want to have a mixture of all kinds of people. Isn't that how America started?

I'd want people who would pull their own weight, but also people with integrity.
