Toyotas are very trustworthy and dependable cars, even older ones. I have had 5 different Toyota's over the years. The oldest I have kept them is one I had for 8 years, and the one I have now is 11 yo, I bought it used 3 years ago, and at 137,000 miles, so far so good. Knock on wood.
I didn't get rid of any of the Toyota's that I have owned for any other reason than I just wanted a different car. All were fine when I sold them and none of them ever gave me problems.

They generally don't nickel and dime you with repairs too much. I would try to look for one at 100,000 miles or less if you can get it, although they can easily keep going strong at 200,000 miles or more.
They have a nice roomy trunk, are pretty sturdy and are pretty comfortable cars so I think they'd be ideal for snowboarding.

Just have a mechanic check it out, and see if you can get the service records for it from the previous owner if you can. If I had to buy a 12-14 yo car, Toyota would be my # 1 choice. Make sure it does not need brake work, or tires, or anything like that unless you figure it into your price.
Take care and good luck :-)

I easily have a 1988 Toyota Camry, 4 cylinder, 5 speed, that develop into given to me a three hundred and sixty 5 days in the past. It has four hundred,000 km on it. I easily have placed new tires on it, and repaired a windshield wiper. It were nicely regarded after. It needs a sparkling starter and new cv joints quickly. otherwise it runs large. The body is in sturdy structure, with the exception of a few the front end harm from an twist of destiny that exceeded off before I were given it. With the chop up fold down again seats it may carry plenty, and it really is amazingly mushy. It receives sturdy gas mileage. i do not apply it to mountain roads contained in the snow, so do not recognize the way it would want to do lower than those situations.

you should be able to get a 1992-94 camry for around $2000, unless it is mint.
they are cheap on gas, not sure about parts though.
i know toyotas are tough as well.

they arent the best looking cars but i would imagine it would be almost perfect for any teenager. COST EFFICIENT.

sure if'n you are gonna buy foreign ...but that is quite unamerican to send your money to another country when so many people in america could benefit. it's not made in america so to save some money you would rather watch as our factories close. you place greed befor honor.besides both of those cars become tombs when a truck hits them.but what the heck money is more important that saftey. don't be surprised when you are targeted because you did not assimilate into our society.
