I'm looking to adopt a goldendoodle, and I found this "breeder" in Kansas. I'm considering this option due to their fair prices. People in California are charging upwards of $2K for goldendoodles - which is absolutely ridiculous!! We're not poor and my husband and I are aware of the financial responsibility of owning a dog. But, we are not stupid enough to pay $1K-$2K for an animal...heck, I don't have to pay my husband anything in order to get pregnant and have a child!!!

$2k is ridiculous for anything that isn't a top notch show prospect... watch out for places like puppyforyou, a lot of the people selling online are brokers, people who buy from puppy mills and resell them. You also can not see or visit the parents which is always a bad thing when buying a puppy. The puppy millers run rampant online because there is no way for potential buyers to screen the conditions. I just looked over their site... they are a puppy mill, watch out... no two people can responsibly breed and care for that many animals... I can almost guarantee the conditions inside the kennel is poor to horrible. you can get a great dog, but the chances of severe health and behavioral problems are so much greater from a place like that. These are not responsible breeders, they are only breeding for profit... be careful... I know the pictures look cute, but they're not going to post pictures of the inside of their kennel for a reason. They obviously aren't a massive scale mill, but a mill none the less... far too many puppies being produced... no health screening for the parents... 1 year genetic guarantee proves that... most genetic conerns won't show up until the pup is 2+ years...

No I have not I would ask if you could visit them and tour their "farm" even if you are not actually going to go there. If they say no then stay away from them. Also ask how often they breed their dogs. Some people treat the dogs well enough but breed them over and ove rand over every time they get their first heat after a litter. That is bad...would you want to pump out kids like a machine like that?

Also www.puppyfind.com is a site FULL of puppy millers please stay away from that site!

The best way is to find a rescue too. They often have puppies and younger dogs but the older ones sometime make the best pets. I just rescued an 8-year-old puppymill rescue and she the sweetest soul I have ever met and I have had a lot of pets in my life...

Good luck. Just remember to ask lots and lots of questions and you will be fine. You can google the name of the breeder or broker (puppy brokers should be shot) to see what sites their names are associated with to see if maybe that are really puppy millers.

Good breeders will never sell a puppy that way. Good breeders want to meet prospective families in person to make sure they are the right homes for their puppies. They don't just sell to anyone that comes along with money.

"Goldendoodles" are a cross between a golden retriever and a poodle - in other words a mixed breed (or mutt).

Why not check out a poodle mix rescue like this one? http://www.poomixrescue.com/
You can get your golden/poodle mix for a reasonable price while not lining the pockets of so-called "breeders" trying to make money scamming the public by selling mutts with fancy names.

Or check out your local pound, I'll bet you any money there are lots of poodle mixes and golden mixes there. And you will be saving a life.

Be aware that golden/poodle mixes are high maintenance. They have lots of energy and need plenty of exercise. Their coats are very high-maintenance and require frequent brushing as well as regular trips to the groomer. To maintain the fluffy look you are looking at around $70-100 or more per grooming. If you keep them shaved you can probably get away with paying less.

thats pathetic price, it costs a lot to look after one, vaccinations and the food, toys, its needs, worm tablets and everything. Try a shelter or adoption center. or private seller, but they r usually expansive.

i havn't heard anything bad about that site, but your right. 2k is waaaay too much for a little puppy! unless it is the cutest thing you've ever seen, then maybe it would be reasonable.
