I know he was born in Crete but not sure which town...he supposedly died at Heraklion so maybe he was born there also.

Many ancient myths are associated with Crete. According to one, Gaia (Mother Earth)emerged from Chaos and bore Uranus as she slept. Uranus (the sky) fathered several children, among them the seven Titans. The last of them, Kronos, married his sister Rhea. It was prophesied by Mother Earth and Uranus that one of Kronos’ sons would dethrone him. Kronos swallowed the children whole that Rhea bore each year, among them were Estia, Dimitra, Hera, Hades and Poseidon. When Rhea bore Zeus, Mother Earth hid him in the Spileo Dicteon Andron on Lassithi Plateau of Crete. Kronos believed that he had swallowed Zeus, but, in fact, he had swallowed a stone given to him by Rhea to trick him and spare this son.

reply to ben_yhvh_...:
Nobody knows when or where Jesus was born or even whether he was born at all...nor where he grew up if he was real, there's no information about his childhood years...nothing until the last three years of his so-called ministry...a bit obscure.

This might help you. I had to translate it so excuse my english typo-, ortho- etc.

Tradition says that Zeus grew among shepherds in Idi mountain, in a cave, called Ideo Antro of Nida plateau of Rethimno (so the city you are interested in, might be Rethymnon). When he grew he approached Rea and with her help they made the Saturn drink a poisonous liqueur and from his mouth come out a- one his all brothers of Zeus. This led them to a war against the Titans in which he conquered. (http://www.crete.tournet.gr/The_Birth_of_Zeus-is-31-el.jsp)
The Nida plateau is a fertile plain in height 1.400 metres above in the Psiloritis mountain and abstains 24 kilometres from t Anwgeja, 78 kilometres from the Rethimno and 60 kilometres from the Heraklion. It is used as aestival pasture land. In Nida you can see the traditional space of production of cheese, mitata, the ski centre of Psiloritis and the Ideon Antron cave. However, according to another tradition, he was born in the County of Arcadia (in Peloponisos - Greece), in Likeon (not sure) mountain and then he was moved to Crete where he was being taken care of by the Diktean nymphs. (http://el.wikipedia.org)

Where Was Zeus Born

In Hesiod's Theogony, Zeus is the youngest son of Titans, Cronus and Rhea. Because of an oracle which had predicted that he would be dethroned by one of his children, Cronus swallowed each child as it was born, hoping that he would prevent this (see Cronus). So he swallowed first his daughters Hestia, Demeter and Hera, and then his sons Hades and Poseidon. On Gaea's advice, when she was pregnant with her third son Zeus, Rhea went to Crete and there secretly gave birth to Zeus. Instead of Zeus, she wrapped up a stone in a swaddling clothes and gave it to Cronus who swallowed it without suspecting anything. Meanwhile, Gaea took her grandson to Mt.Ida (others say to Mt. Dicte) on Crete. There she gave him to Nymphs Adrasteia and Ida, daughters of Melisseus (1), king of Crete. The two Nymphs took good care of young Zeus. They put him in a golden cradle and fed him with honey and goat Amalthea's milk. They hung the cradle upon the tree so that Cronus could not find him either on the earth, or in the sky, or in the sea. The armed Curetes executed war dances around the cradle, beating their bronze shields with their swords, so that Cronus could not hear the baby crying. Later, when he became the ruler of the world, Zeus showed an exceptional gratitude to his custodians. He placed Adrasteia, Ida and Amalthea among the stars, and to the bees that had produced the honey especially for him, he gave the golden color as well as the strength to resist the harsh mountain climate.

This is an excellent point, because nobody knows and nobody cares. Because he isn't real. Everyone knows where Jesus Christ was born, and where He grew up, because He is real. It is still relevant information because He is the same today as He was 2000 years ago - mighty to save. Zeus? C'mon give me a break... Not many Zeus worshippers these days.

He wasn't born on earth. Uranis and Cronas had him. Crony was eathing his siblings so him Mom fed Crony a rock that made him barf up the sibs. The Zeus grabbed the sickle thing from Crony and cut off Crony's manhood. The Greek/Roman Gods lived in Olympus a really huge mountain. That's all I know. Sorry it's not the answer you want.

Zeuz grew up in Compton, California. His real name is Tommy Lister, Jr., and he played pro-Basketball for a while and has made appearances in over 80 movies. He was once one of the "bad" guys in the professional wrestling scene where he was the arch-enemy of none other than Hulk Hogan. So, he may have been born in California; his biography does not indicate where he was born.

I think Zeus just always "was" and wasn't actually born anywhere. - and on a side note I read a few other answers on here and have a question of my own...Why is Christ religious but Zeus a myth?
