I think the Christian is the one who looks at the peanut butter and gives it a taste. With that feeling, he knows it isn't jelly. There is no brainwashing. We decide what to believe just like you do.

The agnostic, on the other hand, turns it over, looks at it, sticks his fingers in it but is still too stubborn (I don't want to imply stupid) to decide if it is jelly or peanut butter.

Taste the peanut butter, friends. Then you'll know. And you won't be so hungry.

Did I stretch the metaphor too far?

BLess you

I didn't miss CPT's point. We choose what we believe. We choose to believe in Christianity

It's more like this... it looks like peanut butter, it feels like peanut butter, and a believer will taste it and go "Mmmm, peanut butter..." and an agnostic or an atheist will go "Screw that, I'm not putting poop in my mouth." because he knows what it really is.

Look buddy, I don't know if you think you are funny or not, but it's my guess that you do. I can't be sure due to the fact that I'm agnostic on the subject. Your peanut butter metaphor sucks because it's unrealistic. You are just picking on a faith that chooses not to decide because they believe it to be unknowable. Where you on the other hand decide that their is a god because you are to afraid to consider the possibility that you are utterly alone . Go preach to someone unable to think for themselves.

Agnosticism is the philosophical view that the value of certain claims as truth—particularly theological claims regarding the existence of God, gods, or deities—are unknown, inherently unknowable, or incoherent and thus irrelevant to life. The term and the related agnostic were coined by Thomas Henry Huxley in 1869, and are also used to describe those who are unconvinced or noncommittal about the existence of deities as well as other matters of religion. The word agnostic comes from the Greek a (without) and gnosis (knowledge). Agnosticism is not to be confused with a view specifically opposing the doctrine of gnosis and Gnosticism—these are religious concepts that are not generally related to agnosticism.

Agnostics may claim that it is not possible to have absolute or certain spiritual knowledge or, alternatively, that while certainty may be possible, they personally have no such knowledge. Agnosticism in both cases involves some form of skepticism towards religious statements. Some claim that there is nothing distinctive in being an agnostic because even theists do not claim to know God exists, only to believe it, and many even agree there is room for doubt; and atheists in the broader sense do not claim to know there is no God, only not to believe in one.

It doesn't matter if there's peanut butter or jelly involved, but the fact is, your god does not exist.

I'm sorry. I don't make these rules. This is the way things are, whether you want to admit it or not. I know you don't believe me when I say your god is imaginary, because it's ingrained in you not to. But god has been abundantly disproven. I unfortunately do not have the time or the desire to prove this to you. It would take months.

But people like myself just wish people like you would actually research your beliefs, rather than just staunchly defend them with silly stuff like this question. We atheists can do nothing but shake our heads in confusion as to how people like you can willingly be so blind.

If you have the courage, please consider a few of these things. Prove them wrong. That's all I ask... try to prove to yourself that these proofs against god are wrong:

Anyone can believe what they want to believe..

Some people are Agnostic not out of choice, but out of lack of, for lack of a better word, knowledge..

I am Agnostic because my mother is Lutheran and my father is Athiest.. I didn't follow either. I never went to church. I didn't want to say I DON'T believe and I didn't want to say that I DID... Because I haven't been taught anything religion-based.

I'm don't feel "hungry" or "stupid"... I don't know any different and I am a very happy person the way that I am..

You're blending your metaphors the wrong way. Christian or Agnostic ... both are human ... both have the choice to determine their destiny.
You really think any God will be glad you are pointing out the beliefs of others and mocking them? May your GOD forgive you for being an idiot.

I have tasted your "peanut butter". I was raised Christian and was as devout a believer as you could find for much of my life. Ironically, it was reading the bible that lead me away from Christianity. I thought "No way this could have happened," and "Wow... that's messed up," and "Why would God do this? it seems so... evil."

Now, as an Agnostic, I am not frustrated. I am free.

The peanut butter is poisoned. Symptoms include: delusions, hypocrisy, and a martyr complex. Don't taste the peanut butter.

An agnostic is by definition a person that " doesn´t know". I´m an atheist, and I think that what you discover by yourself has better taste than what has been predigested. With all due respect of course.

Agnostics aren't too stupid/stubborn to call it like it is, they are open-minded enough to consider different ideas without force-fitting themselves into a religion with all its rules and illogical beliefs.

Peanut Butter aside.....

Atheists - Do not want to know and want to be left alone.
Agnostics - Think they know but don't want to be left alone.
Christians - Are in the know and are not alone.

Hey what about honey?

God Bless.
