Educate her as to why you feel it is healthy. You have the power to show her the way to changing her mind on the issue. After all, it's only a computer, not cocaine! There's worse things out there.

I was in the exact same situation until my mother had a stroke and ended up in a nursing home. Now, I'm using the computer everywhere and loving it! I use it at home, at my boyfriend's house, at the library, and at work. If you love the computer as much as I do, get a computer job and make some money at the same time. That's what I did!

Try to find a hobby to keep you off the computer for so often. For example, go to the park and take a walk or just find something else besides going on the computer. Maybe something you are interested in doing. Just some sort of hobby .

Do some exercise as well as using the computer, it is unhealthy if you are constantly on the computer and nothing else. Go for a jog and show your mum that you are healthy.

Maybe she thinks it is not healthy to be on it for a long period of time. I know my daughter loves to be on the computer too, but it is not healthy when it consumes your whole day. Tell her you will be on it for a certain amount of time that is acceptable to her.

if you're in school, always keep 2 programs open, one with some kind of school work on it and the other a program of your choice that way you can claim to be doing something constructive. Oh, remind her its not being on the computer too much that is harmful, it's the things you may not be looking at, such as porn!!!!

Don't be on it all the time. Show her that you have a life outside of it and that it's not all you enjoy.
Spend some time with her, spend some time outside, or just doing other things around the house that she can see (talking on the phone, watching tv etc..). Go out with friends and so on.

Most of the internet is not healthy for kids. The fact that you're in here proves your mother right

Your mom may have a point, if the computer is your primary (or only!) means of socializing....you may want to try getting out more.
