Losing weight fast is very easy to do, but you won't be losing the weight you want and it can be very unhealthy. For example, you can easily lose weight (but not fat) by eating less sodium and drinking more water. But changing your sodium intake could throw off your electrolyte balances, making you sick and getting in the way of your long-term goals.

Weight-loss pills are also an option, and a dangrous one at that. Some of them can help for a while, but cause a permanent slowing of your metabolism in the long-run, to say nothing of heart and blood pressure problems.

The best way to lose fat and actually keep it off is to exercise regularly and consistently burn around 500 more calories each day than you eat. A larger gap will only cause your body to go into caloric conservation mode, and can slow or reverse weight loss. It can also cause the loss of muscle (especially if you exercise). Muscle weighs more than fat, but the more muscle you have the higher your metabolism will run and the more you can eat without gaining weight. Also, waiting for about forty minutes after excercise to eat typically leaves your immune system at peak strength. Be sure to eat somethng before exercise.

I should also mention that a balanced diet low in fat and high in grains and vegetables is an excellent plan for health and general weight loss. If you can break the 3-meal a day habit, it is best to snack constantly instead of having large meals (think 6-7 small, balanced meals). This will keep your metabolism primed and you'll burn calories much faster that way.

My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

I used to drink 1 glass of grapefruit juice with breakfast every day. Breakfast was 2 eggs, 2 bacon, and one wheat toast with apple butter or honey.
Lunch was a salad and dinner was meat veggie and another glass of grapefruit juice. Drink lots of water too. I lost about 27 pounds in a month.
