he was giving me the whole come here then go away treatment
i asked yesterday what i should do and i decided i would talk to him
but i have no idea what to say or how to say it

tell him to F off and leave you alone and that you will hurt him if he does not abide. he will listen.

This is a power thing. If he's with his buddies he is showing off that he can make you do what he wants. I will also bet he is telling them other things also once you have proven to them that you will do what he wants... things that are most likely not true and not very nice.
so you really have two choices.. you can talk to him sometime about it when no one else is around and nothing is really going on... kinda casual.. and say that you don't like being treated like a trained monkey. If he wants to talk to you.. fine.. but don't ask for you to come to him every time and expect you to drop everything whenever he decides he wants you attention.
the other choice (if you decide that he is not worth it) is the next time he does that is to walk up to him and when he turns away tell him (loudly - don't shout) to keep on walking because its the last time you will be talking to him for a while.. then... don't talk to him for a few days.
he will get the message either way.

Make it clear, make it simple. Don't make the classic mistake of justifying what you are saying, or making apologies (this is TOUGH to do by the way, but it IS possible).
Tell him the FACTS 'when you act like this (whatever) it makes me feel like this (whatever)'
'I dont like feeling like this - its not a respectful way to be treating me and I need to look after myself. In a relationship we need to respect each others feelings and I don't feel that I am getting that from you. In the future, please will you act in (this way) instead because other wise, there seems little point in continuting in this way. Much as I care about you, I also care about me too'
Stand up for yourself without being too arsey. Main thing is - follow your words with your actions. Dont let him walk all over you. Set yourself a timescale (3 weeks? 3 months?) and if it happens again, cut loose.

You should tell him that you can't be with somebody that isn't going to treat you right. Tell him that if he doesn't starighten himself up he might just let you slip right through his fingers. And tell him, that he wouldn't just be losing another girl, he would be losing the best thing that ever happened to him.

I agree with the other person...be strong and tell him to go to HELL!
Have nothing to do with a idiot like that...have self-respect and never let ANYONE treat you less than how you KNOW you should be treated!!
