Something different than flowers. What's a good gift, in general. I don't know her that well but there are certain things that always go over. What do I do?

For me.. getting a gift from someone I just met is a red flag. It tells me he is desperate and thinks I can be bought. I've received flowers, candy, etc after a first date and every single time - EVERY time - they guy was expecting a LOT more on the second date... then when I didn't.. became angry and on a couple of occasions psudo-stalked me with more gifts etc trying to win me back. So now... if a gift shows up soon after meeting... I refuse/return it and let them know I'm not really interested.

My advice.. don't do it.

Try something pretty but not expensive. I recommend a silk flower hair clip from Breezy Beach Wear. Pick out one from their new fall line with the Swarovski Crystals. The chocolate silk is really popular. It would be a small gift, but nice too!
It's a creative way to literally give her a flower, without giving her flowers. :)

You can never go wrong with flowers or candy, especially since you don't know her well. Then once you get to know her better and found out more about her interests then you could get her a CD of her favorite band or something along those lines so that way she knows that you remembered prior conversations and she will think it's cute.

No need to get gifts other than flowers, chocolate or cards if you just met. You don't want to by jewlery or anything like that.

A small teddy bear would be cute. I love the "From Me To You" bears that can be found in card stores.

I actually saw a big one for the first time and asked my boyfriend to give it to me for Christmas, and I'm 27 yrs old!!

Don't get her anything too big or too expensive, it might make her feel weird and push her away. Get something that makes her think you are cute and sweet.

What do you know about her? Perfumes make great gifts. Some recommendations would be: Hugo Boss-Red; Cool Water by Davidoff; DKNY BE DELICIOUS by Donna Karan. These are my top three.

I agree with what Sara says.. don't buy any since it's too early. It do look desperate. Just be a gentleman in the date and be nice, polite.. that's a gift by itself.

If she is really a sweat heart, get her some flowers or some roses would be fantastic, or even one rose for starters. then see what happens and take it from there.

First you need to find out what she likes. Unless you already know. You also don't want to make it obvious.
