Yes, it will go away in about a week or two. Don't worry about it, some people are more sensative to it than others...some will get swelling, others won't. I had major swelling, I looked like a hampster storing food in my cheeks.

I've had 4 wisdom teeth removed and on the same day had my 4 - 12 year old molars uprooted. There was quite a bit of swelling. I'm not sure that it's entirely normal for your face to get that swollen. I know some swelling is to be expected.
I would suggest elevating your head when sleeping and ice packs. If it doesn't go away after a day or two after the surgery (the pain should go away within a week) then I would suggest you call your doctor, possibly there is something wrong.
If you are not comforted with any of the answers, you can call the oral surgeon anyway, I'm sure they get questions of that nature all the time.

I don't remember mine swelling that bad. I did get a filling once and the dentist gave me a Novocaine shot. The whole half of my face swelled up. I couldn't even open my mouth. I wen back to the dentist and he told me that there are some nerves in the back of the mouth that if he got it with the shot it would cause swelling. Some people have no problems having their wisdom teeth out and some do.

Hey there....yes I too have had my wisdom teeth pulled and I woke up laughing at the doctor because the drugs were so F-ing good, but then later that night I was feeling like crap because of the pain.....thats when i took some more drugs...lol.
But I did swell up like a chipmunk and it looked like i had food stuffed in my checks for the next week, but it eventually went away, and i returned back to my original beautiful face.
Good Luck and don't cry.

My 3 children had theirs out. Believe me, it goes down be patient. Be sure to follow the directions especially the part about not drinking with straws or loosening the newly forming scar tissue. I am sure you will look better in only 3 or 4 days but everything should be totally resolved in no more than 3 weeks. I mean that you will look good, you will no longer have any discomfort and the areas will be healed. Again follow the dentist's instructions exactly!!!

If you are over 20 it takes longer for the swelling to go down. About 4 to 5 days. Make sure you take all medication prescribed and try an anti- inflammatory if your doc says ok. Ice also helps. You may also get bruising which can take up to two weeks to go away.

There really isn't enough info. like, how long ago did you have them taken out? Was it an extraction (pulled) or malofacial surgery (cut out)? If it has been more than 3 day and it was a simple extraction, return to your DDS for antibiotics. If it was surgical, it could take a week or more. Check back with your DDS if it has been more than 10 days. Good luck, I know either way it hurt like hell.

You don't really need your wisdom teeth you should see a dentist to have the pulled. I had my first one pulled when I was 5 years old!! I had the other 3 removed when I was about 19 or 20 years old. They ran an IV and gave me novacaine, I barely felt it.
