We have only owned LandRovers throughout the years and weren't too happy with the Freelander. A bit small and less adventure-ready than the Discovery. I'm not a big fan of the newer LandRovers. Feel like they handle more like Cadillac's than the safari vehicles they were created as. If I were you - I'd get a certified pre-owned Discovery from 4 years ago. I think you'll be happier - plus they come with a warranty and are easier on the wallet. Good Luck.

I don't know about the Freelander, but my Land Rover LR3 is the best car I've ever had. Great comfort, handling, and an incredibly tight turning radius. Granted the gas mileage isn't great and I feel a little guilty driving an SUV regarding the state of our planet and global warming, but I need the space to drive four to five kids around safely. If the Freelander is a smaller, more fuel efficient version of the LR3, I'd say it would be a great car.

It is the British version of the Ford Escape SUV. I have not heard much negative about the Escape, except that is is a Mazda design. So I guess that means it is really a Japanese car, and that is not so bad as far as quality.

If you are not, please don't, save your money for a Toyota.
