Martha Stewart made a bar from a piece of plywood placed over three bar stools with a grass skirt around it and hung tiki lights over it for a luau. It looked pretty cool and easy to do.

Luau parties are the best! My suggestions will depend on if you live in a warm or cold climate, so you can choose from the list I give here:
Request that your friends arrive in Luau attire... this can be a tropical print shirt, beachy looking dress, etc...
Give all of your guests a party favor. I recommend shopping for these at www.breezybeachwear.com you can purchase a few silk flower leis, flower hair clips, or some surf accessories for guys and girls. Or just pick something out for yourself!
Get your decorations at Oriental Trading Co. (www.orientaltrading.net)
Serve tropical food like fresh fruit, grilled chicken and pineapple kabobs, chilled peel n eat shrimp, etc...
Play island tunes that you can download online like Bob Marley, Beach Boys, etc...

how fun, go 2 the party store u can get layz, kewl decorations 2 hang my sister had one. she got the umbrella straws, u can make wap, grilled food, fresh fruit, daquiries etc....make some
