You might think I'm just being an Ahole, but actually I'm still searching for just one religious person who can actually use logic to counterargue these points. I'm calling you out!

Why the weak mind? Perhaps the strong mind accept that death, pain and loss are tough facts of living and don't make up fairly tales to cope

Religion as a coping mechanism - definitely. It's a tool to explain all of the unexplainable in life that we as humans fear.
We fear death mostly above all else. Such uncertainty. It consoles the weak minded to think that there is bliss after death and makes it not so 'scary'.
Religion makes lonely people feel like they are not really alone. It gives them answers to life's questions. It makes them believe that the bad things that happen to them happen for a good reason. It gives them hope. If they believe it is all part of 'God's Plan', it makes them feel better about tough situations.
Basically I completely agree that religion is a means for people to cope with fear of the unknown - definitely. Not only that but it controlls the masses.
Religion is a basis for morals. It helps the masses decide what is right and what is wrong. Instead of another person telling them what is right and wrong, it is an infallible being. This way the being cannot be questioned "why".

I am a very strong christian. I have dealt with the pain of loosing my first husband to a brain aneurysm. He had a physical done 2 months before he died. Where did that thing come from?
I put my faith in GOD that I will see him again one day. He was a christian as well.
If you have a weak mind there really is not a way to cope with the loss of a loved one. So therefore your question is invalid. To be able to cope with such a loss and still have a measure of sanity to go on living from day to day, you must have a strong mind and faith in GOD.

Didn't Joseph Stalin reflect the same sentiments? About religion being the opiate of the people?
Okay... now that I've got your attention. All a faith system is is a way to explain what science can't. There are many things that science can't explain and what it can't must be taken on faith on whatever we believe.
However-- religion, which would be more attributed to a strict regiment to get into somebody's version of heaven, is for the weak minded. Even in Freeworld American Christianity many are more attuned to taking what they are given whether than researching it themselves even in the bible.
Yes; I am a Christian. Freeworld American Christianity though tends to disgust me. It brings things like this where you are honestly searcing for a genuine person.
By the way. For future reference. To find a genuine person instead of their pastor's clone-- you might be better off not using as confrontive of an attitude. I would've engaged you in a conversation without the confrontation as well as with. Many won't engage in an uneccessary battle. This was in my eyes uneccessary but not neccessarily futile.

I watched a speech about this once how fear of the unknown is what created Christanity. I came up with something that men invented it to rule over woman. This is better sounding.
So may grand answer is sure but I disagree about the weak part. We're in America so believe in what you want. I weren't force Christanity on you.

I think that is a part of it. It also helped to unite people back in the day so that they could form strong societies. No ancient society has not had a religion. I also think that humans have a need to believe something. Back then, religion was all there was to believe. Now we have science which helps us draw our conclusions about the world. Religion is just an artifact of the ancient world before there was science, and it's time for it to be abolished.

For some people, yes. Remember Marguerite Perrin from the show, Trading Spouses? She had some type of anxiety disorder, and her chosen self-treatment was food and religion. Neither was effective. Her anxiety continued to be intense.
For others, it's simply a social activity to be part of the community, and they don't really think about it or question it or use it in other parts of their life.

Who died and made you a judge ??? Religion and Bible means more to us, then just what you mentioned. So sad to see how short you fall from knowing about this wonderful knowledge of God the Father Almighty, maker of Heaven and Earth. Weak minded, when you point a finger at us, then don't forget there are three pointing back at you.

Does it take a weak mind to believe in things unseen or does that take extra strength especially in times of pain and grief etc. to hold onto things unseen, but only felt within.
For me the latter is the case - its even harder to hold onto even a miniscule of faith when you are in pain especially over the loss of a loved one or when you see some of the hurt in this world.

Whats the matter? You need reassurance that you made the right decision?
Counter what points? Not ever religion believes in a afterlife, not every faith believes their god is their to help with pain and loss. There is a HUGE diversity in beliefs and your blanket statement is a show of stupidity.

I'd like to add it's a good excuse for those who believe in a religion to unfairly discriminate and be prejudiced toward women and homosexuals.
