I always say 6 months is a respectable time. It gives you time for yourself to heal and for your ex partner. Plus it's always nice to have that time for yourself instead of rushing into something for all the wrong reasons.

honestly, there is no time limit, in my opinion you need to be 100% over with the previous person before starting something new. It was obvisily a serious realtionship you shouldnt just jump right in even if you dont plan on another serious realtionship. I would say the first night you can go to bed without thinking of the person you broke up with at all, your ready to start dating. just my opinion!

You broke up 5 years ago? I think it's time to move on.
