I think people are blowing this whole thing entirely out of porportion. Did anyone complain when they seperated the contestants based on Age? How about sex? Nope, not to this degree. But the second that the word 'race' comes into play, people freak out.
I mean, to people really sit at home and wait for someone to say the word 'race' and then jump on the bandwagon and start a protest?! It's insane!
Another thing I have found out about people that don't like the way the tribes are formed this time around, is that they haven't even watched a single Survivor episode! How can someone complain about a show when they have never even seen it?!
I have heard they say that this will enforce racial stereotypes on the show. I disagree. I think this will open people's eyes and show them that no matter the race, there will be people who don't pull their load, can't swim, or aren't as intelligent as people thought they were based on their race.
Let me ask some of those people that don't agree with this a couple of questions.
Do you all realise that each tribe, whether white, black, hispanic or asian, will vote THEIR OWN TRIBE MEMBERS OFF? That's right. When the tribes vote to eliminate someone, they will be voting on people of their own tribe. NOT any other tribe.
Do you all realise that within a week or two, the tribes will become obsolete and they will be intermingled? This happens on every Survivor. The original tribes never last for long, because as people are voted off, they form new tribes.
Now. To those people out there that think seperating people based on their race is a bad idea, I ask you one question and to please explain your reasonings. Don't just say because. Because as an answer to a question is like an asshole. Everyone has one. My question to you is, Why do you think this is a bad idea?
Now, bear in mind, nobody made this big a stink when they seperated the contestants based on age and sex. I just think its pretty pathetic that people have to use race as this huge deal in the world. Do they realise we are all part of the HUMAN RACE? No matter one's skin color, age, sex, or religious belief's, I have always, and will continue to alwasy treat people as I want them to treat me. With respect and courtesy. The moment someone does not do that for me, then I no longer pay attention to them. They are gone from my thoughts and my actions.

I think it's a shame that that was the only idea they could come up with to respond to criticisms that there wasn't enough diversity on the show. I don't think that this was the way to go about it. I have a feeling that it's only going to perpetuate stereotypes about the different races.

I don't know what the producers were thinking... but I bet the ratings go through the roof. It is not racism if all genders and ethnic backgrounds are competing. Once the inital shock wears off people will realize this.

Not necessarily good or bad, just good marketing. Regardless of your position on this, I bet their ratings go up this year.
Which is exactly what the producers want. Nothing like controversy to generate free press.

We are human first and foremost. The diversity of our species should be perceived as beautiful. Like a species of plant, different colors of flowers and leaves, shapes, sizes, etc. It's all beautiful, and the more it varies the more amazing it is. Unfortunately one of the varieties of brains gets all uncomfortable when they find something different and gets all up in your face about it.

If they did it for the reasons they say they did it, then it would be all good. But they are doing it for ratings. Nothing more, nothing less. All I know is, the first time I see a black women with nappy hair and a bad attitude, i won't be watching anymore.

Bad thing. If you're in a plane crash on a deserted island with a bunch of different people, you will have to learn to live with those people. They will all be people of different races, cultures, religions, etc. If you put all the African people on one island, all the Caucasian people on one island, all the Asian people on one island, and so on, that's not very realistic. Anf it isn't not realistic, then it shouldn't be called reality TV.

I am already over it and they haven't even started yet. The whole thing is annoying, boring and stupid. They're doing this to generate more buzz because nobody gives a f*ck about it anymore. Oooo - let's get all controversial and maybe they'll pay attention!!
What-everrrrr.

I think it will make things very interesting to see if the different cultures and the way they were brought up will really show. I don't think it is meant to be racial at all.
