if it's a boy, throw a cheerio in the toilet and ask him if he can hit it with his pee. He'll love it.

You must be consistant 1st of all in what ever you try . Children
learn by doing something over & over . I always tried to make it a big deal when my kids were successful ! We would clap our hands and say huray !!! A cookie or other positive reward are also good . DO NOT get mad or scold the child when they have an accident . Talk to the child and let them know they just didn't make it in time and tell them you know that next time will be better . Also be sure to use the fact that all BIG people do this and we know they want to be bigger ! Be possitive all the time and you will get great results .

From a MOM & GRANDMA !

Are you training because the child has told you they are ready or because you feel it's time they were trained? I have not started with my child because she does not show any real interest (just yesterday she sat on the potty without a diaper for the first time.) If you are starting too soon you might just end up taking him/her every 15 minutes, and then you are only training yourself.

If the child is ready, set up a reward system like stickers on a chart. Don't punish accidents, just give more encouragement.

my 3 year old has just got clean during the day, it's only taken 4 months! I have told her about nursery and how she wouldn't be allowed to go in nappies, it has to be knickers! because she is so excited about it she will wear them. Bribery is best. Try pants during the day with a treat at the end of it if he does really well. Lots of praise when they have used the toilet and being told that they are a big girl/boy and only babies wear nappies, sort of conversation, this does work! Good luck, they will get there in the end, i know out of 4 children my youngest girl has been the worst, but she has done it. During the day but not at night yet, but i can't push too much!

Is it a boy or girl? I have a 3 yr old (May 6) he is finally getting the process. He was not ready until recently to be potty trained. The trick I was told to do ..especially if it's a male is to put cereal in the toilet and let them aim at it. Also, give rewards.

My son started going to the bathroom more when I started to let him walk around in undies or nothing at all.

First off you can never actually "train" a child to use the potty. They will do it on their own when they want to. You just help encourage them to use the toilet. Try putting the child in underware(especially if your a stay at home mom). Ask every 30 mins or so if they have to go potty, there will be many acciddents but their learning. Thats what I did with both my older children and it seemed to work.

Don't pressure or push before he/she is ready.
What worked best for me was to leave my son with no diaper and keep the potty very close by. I used a sticker chart and candy reward for every time he sat on the potty and once he started using the potty then I reduced the prizes for just pees or poos. He was fully trained and in underwaer within a month!

My son, he will be 3 April 25. he ask to go potty and does nothing once he's on it. Then he hides an poops in a corner. I'm convinced there is no method because i tried them all. children just go at their own time.

U r better off using a big peoples loo with a baby toilet seat on because they get on better with a proper loo than a potty

Stop trying to make the child do something he/she isn't ready to do. Wait until the child is ready (the child will let you know) to be potty trained instead of trying to force the poor child.
