It is an oxymoron. You cannot be free under any religion. In USA it is "free" in a sense that christians are not persecuted, only mocked, derided and ignored. This is NOT persecution.
The bible says that christians should act like "fighters", then again has a fighter freedom if he/she gets orders?

Freedom of religion means we can go to the church or our choice & not be forced to go to a particular religion. God Himself doesn't want church leaders of a government or state to force every one to believe as they do.

When there is power like this, corrupt leaders (not put there by God) lead in the churches, because of money & power. You can see this happening in Islamic countries.

That is why we have the first constitutional amendment. And what Thomas Jefferson wrote in a letter, Separation of church & state. Also saying, "If my neighbor believes in many gods or no god, He is no threat to me. He is not picking my pockets.". So these foundational truths are inspired by God. As our American freedoms are inspired by God.

People have abused their meanings to persecute Christians though. Jesus promised His followers that they would be persecuted for believing in Him. Because many don't like the Light of Life. It reveals the things hidden in darkness.

Having freedom of religion does not mean we will not be persecuted. But the law of the land protects us from physical abuse or death. Any abuser or murderer would go before the courts & found guilty or not guilty.

The Christian fight is the good fight of faith. Faith in God. Freedom of religion means we wont be killed for believing the way we believe is right.

Now there is freedom of religion also in Afghanistan & Iraq. Because people who wanted it petitioned for it. They both have in their constitutions adherence to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In the UDHR is freedom for people to choose how to believe & not be killed for it.

Freedom of religion means you are free to choose your religion. I can be a Christian, Muslim or whatever. That's what it means. Geeze.

It is a term made by humans in this country. God doesn't give freedom of religion. You need to know the truth and there is only one...Jesus died for our sins. He is the only way to Heaven.

Corverqu is wrong. It's not freedome from religion. I have the right to pray in public if I want to. I can wear a t-shirt that says Jesus loves you. I can wear a cross necklace. THat's freedom OF religion.

I remember blessed are the Peacemakers for they shall be called the Children of God, but I don't remember blessed are the Freedom Fighters for they shall be as the dead in the sea ... or anything along those lines.

What that phrase actually means is that we have the freedom to be religious or not. There is no state run church and we are not all foced to be catholic or protestant. (anyone remember Bloody Mary) That right is for you too, for you ahve the freedom not to practice any religion. In the times when the pilgrims came to America, that was not an option.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Its not a freedom of, and its not a freedom from. It does not say that you cant do anything to me and it does not say that I cant do anything to you. What it says is clear "Congress" can not establish a religion, and it also says that "Congress" can not stop me or you from practicing our religion. That's all it says there is no more.

Freedom of religion can only be found through Quantum Physics. Once you have studied and understand Quantum Physics you will be free of the need for "religion". Quantum Physics has infinite possibilities. Quantum Physics brings all "paths" to the ONE in all of us, for we are all ONE.

A good place to start is the two books referenced below.

Christians in the US are persecuted? Never mind the non-Christians who are called terrorists, communists, devil worshippers and just about every other name. Oh, and I'm only talking about Atheists!
