We often talk about that idiot behind the wheel. If everyone thinks it is someone else, then who are those bad drivers? Aliens from Mars.

I'll make an admission. I'm the idiot driver about 10% of my total driving time. Sorry if I didn't use my signal, cut in too quickly, etc. I make up for it by doing something courteous for another driver later.

I believe truck drivers tend to be better drivers. They have more driver training and much stiffer penalties for traffic offenses (like loss of their job).

If everybody drove like they did the day they passed their driving test, this wouldn't be an issue. There is no excuse for the way people drive except for extremely poor attitudes and a huge lack of courtesy. Your character reflects alot of how you drive, so think about that too. Nobody's perfect, but that doesn't mean you can't try. An old truck driver's saying is, "You should learn something new every day out on the road, if you think you know it all, you should quit driving." We all really do need to do better out there, what changes will you make to actually "drive safely"?

I was a professional truck driver for several years. I have over two million safe miles under my belt. I still do some pretty stupid things. Given the fact that I know I shouldn't do those things, I feel that I am an above average driver. Knowing really is half the battle by this logic. Experience counts. So does all the defensive driving training I have received. Driver education goes a long long way if you apply it to your everyday driving.

I'm the fast driver who is on your butt. I know I shouldn't do it, but I do. I have never had a ticket in the past twenty years and the only accident I have been in is where I was hit from the rear while stopped. I can blame my actions on being an aviator, and on driving a fast car to begin with. However the odds will probably get me at some point.

True stat: 60% of drivers consider themselves "above average". Think about that; it's mathmatically impossible for more than 49% to be above average. Another 20% consider themselves to be "average". For those of you keeping track, that means only 20% consider themselves to be "below average".
