Alsalamu alaikum sister,
People are converting to Islam because they were drawn to research it themselves, putting aside their biases and have discovered a truth about this beautiful faith that never reaches the headlines. A religion that fulfills human needs and curiosity that addresses a comprehensible reason on why he/she was created in the first place. As for those who hate Islam, there could be a lot of reasons;
-Islam is a scapegoat for those who can't digest the fact that their goverment policies in Muslim land commited huge injustices and fueled most of the anger that's emerging these days in form of terrorism.
-Islam has always been competition to christianity and christians orientalists have been spewing lies about Islam since the middle ages. Spewing myths like we worship a "moon God"...
-some people mostly atheists have hate for any organized religion not just Islam, and accuse religion to be behind all the bloodshed and problems in the world. They'd like a religion free world.
- Some hate Muslims and Islam cause they are misinformed or don't really know anything about Islam. Therefore, their hate is coming out of fear of the unknown/alien.
- Some hate us because they are judging us from what the media protrays us, when many Muslims are acting unIslamic, their actions are unjustly attributed to Islam. What makes it worse is these criminals claim their doing it in the name of Islam.
so those are some reasons. It's up to us Muslims to educate Muslims and Non-Muslims on the truth of Islam. We can't help those who hate us cause they most likely want to see our destruction. But we can reach our hands to those who those who want to sincerely understand and build bridges. To work together for a better world for all without sacrificing our identities.
Good day to you sister.

I don't hate Muslims as my own Muslim friends can testify. And I'm not sure that Islam is the fastest growing religion. However, those converting to it may be in it for the fad or just to be controversial.
The Muslims I know are non-practicing but are embracing and integrating both Islam and Christianity. I had in no small way talked them into that as I can see truth in both.

We don't hate Muslims!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Muslims are free to worship and preach on our streets and in our prisons.
You could ask why Muslims hate Christians so much, we are not allowed to do the same in Muslim countries.
Fastest growing? That is disputable, there are many small faiths that are growing faster than Islam, but some has to do with the fact that if people leave Islam in some countries, they are killed, and that if Christians preach openly there they are also killed.
Kinda puts a damper on people leaving.
People convert for all kinds of reasons to all different Religions, I have seen that 75% of the Americans that convert to Islam leave within the first 5 years.
I think people are searching, I was. I studied Islam in detail, but never could accept that Muhammad was a true prophet, maybe I studied to much.
I did convert though, and became Catholic.
May God Bless you!

Islam has spread, throughout its history, through terror. North Africa to Spain. Persia and present day India. Millions have been murdered in cold blood by these satanic believers. All the while they take the name of Allah.
The only reason it appears to be the fastest growing is fast breeding. 60% of the countries with the highest birthrate are Islamic. Look up at http://www.nationmaster.com/index.php for the statistics on birthrate and see what religion do majority follow.
The only reason the prisoners are converting is that the Imam supports the criminal in the belief that society has wronged him/her.
You as a Muslim will find it hard to swallow all this.
Do your research with an open mind to see the light.

It isn't really the fastest growing religion. In the West, fewer and fewer people subscribe to any religion. To many of us these days, they're all just superstition, fit for primitive people in the past.
the reason that in some parts of the world many people convert is that it's the better choice. What yould you do if the only other choice was to be beheaded or shot? Throughout history, many religions have forced peopl.e to convert at gunpoint. Many of those converts never forgot their original religion and, as soon as they safely could, they reverted. The marranos are a good example.
As for hatred, with terrorist attacks now frequent and people in court TODAY for saying that anybody who does not accept allah should be killed, well, what would you do?
To finish, many people already have their own religion and are happy with it. why should you (not you personally) want to convert them? Can you "prove" the truth of your religion? If so, check with the Christians and the Jews. Both of them claim to "prove" the validity of their religion. They can't all be right. Is it perhaps the strongest (physically) or the most brutal who must be right? After all, if there was more than one god, they'd fight among themselves until the strongest became the victor.

Misconceptions. But they do have a very different life philosophy. For instance the way women are treated, which is unacceptable in Western Culture.
People converting to Islam? People are converting to whatever religion they think is right for them.
The fastest growing? How? By means of people converting to Islam or people being born in Islam? Because if you're born in Islam you have slim chances of getting out (because the Muslim conceptions are being strongly embedded into your mind. Catholics used to do that through the Middle Ages). BTW, can you get out?
Islam is better than many other religions, but it has been misinterpreted by some, like others have. And so we got the terrorists.

More to the point, why do people hate?
With regard to your question unfortunately there is a lack of understanding in our, supposedly multi-cultural society. Social and Ethnic groups do not mix and therefore cannot have an understanding of the other. Religious leaders (of all faiths) do not really want social integration as this may threaten their culture and their religion.
The reality is we shall only become more understanding when we understand and, we can only do that when we start to communicate with each other.
360 is an excellent starting point.

I don't hate Muslims. I love them. I just hate getting killed. Some extreme Muslims who are confused do that.
I'm sorry Islam is getting a bad rap for it, but I'm not big on any religions. I think they're all too divisive. We really need to just love each other for who we are irrespective of philosophical differences.

I loathe what's written contained in the Qur'an. I easily have not something yet contempt for the murderous history of Mohammad and his companions. i'm astonished that such quite some Muslims can fairly trust contained in absolutely the BS that Mohammad made up. yet, i do not Hate a Muslim. I decide the Muslim as a individual and prefer or dislike him or her on their advantages and demerits. .

Because all we hear is rhetoric and hate, like a program I saw. These young British Muslims said they would continue the 'holy war' until Britain becomes an Islamic state....
This is freaky, scary and an answer to your question...
to list other points would construct an essay/thesis
Also to add: Why behind every terro attack is there Islam/Muslim?
