This is not safe or reccomended - & is illegal in some states. But there is a special harness & system available, if you have no choice: http://www.hunterk9.com/site/870877/product/444

If you have to have your dog ride in the back of a truck (not really the best way for it to travel) there are a couple of things you can do. First a Four point tie down attached to a harness. The four point tie down can be a as simple as four pieces of rope, with one piece tied to each corned of the bed then attach those to a harness on your dog. This will make it so the dog cannot jump out of the bed or hang its self. Another is to put the dog in a dog crate that is securely attached to the bed of the truck. You can also purchase (I think they are called) Billy Goat Cages? They are metal cages that fit into the bed of the truck that has a door at one end, kind of like an outside kennel but super strong. I do recommend though that you put the dog inside the truck in a dog crate or in a doggy seat belt.

first off how old is the dog?...if over a year then there might be hope of it being trained to stay in the back of truck ...i would suggest tieing the dog up in the back so it is safe and then take practice runs around the block then widen the trip,,untill it gets used to it ...if the dog wont stay then DONT make it ride in the back...i have a chihuahua so i dont have that problem ...lol

You need to buy a harness type restraint. It fits around the dogs chest instead of around its neck. Then you need to secure the harness to both sides of your truck bed, only leaving enough room for the dog to laydown but not enough to fall over either side. You can try tying it out there a few times and just spending time with it, so your dog gets used to the feel and being in the truck bed. After that there's nothing left to do but start driving around.

The steps to make sure she is safe is to NOT put her in the back of a truck. No wonder why she does not want to get in the back of the truck. She is scared and it is very unsafe.

Dogs should never be allowed to ride in the back of a truck! Don't you realize how dangerous this is?

First buy her a kennel and be sure it is secure for her to ride in. Dogs should not be in the back of trucks unsecured.

Is it the four door truck or the two door? Most dogs don't like when they are put in the back.

Just put her back there and make short trips until she gets use to it. And just make sure she knows you are in the cab of the truck and not far away.

Do you mean a flat bed truck? I wouldn't recommend this for any dog. Anything could happen and the dog could jump out, and putting a leash on your dog and tieing her down could strangle her if she trys to jump out while wearing it.
