I think they are making a much much larger deal out of the music he listened to, the clothes he wore/way he dressed, the games he played, and his activities on blogs, and such. That's pretty typical though... no one ever wants to take responsiblity- it's never the parents' faults... always the games, media, music.

oh its ok and justified as long as anyone other than a muslim does it. or why not we catch an innocent guy and say that a muslim did it? -- since it has become a trend now-a-days. thank God it wasnt a muslim or else -- i think we all know what would have happened.
crimes dont happen just because someone claims to be from a particular religion and country. it happens with the mentality of the people. some people are stupide enough to hurt others and give it the name of God and religion or any fake reason.

i m totally gonna disagree with *xenomorphgirl* above me .......... she is totally missing the point. on the surface, he seemed like a normal guy (though a bit socially misfit, as he had no friends, but still), and his parent refered to him as a "good kid". and, what goes inside the head of such guys, nobody knows. but, the thoughts, his feelings are reflected openly by the kinda music he listens to (its scientifically proven that music effect the brain-waves, and controls the mood), by the way he used to dress (in black, with a mohawk, represents he wanted to be a vampire punk), the games he played (all violent, representing his nature inclined towards violence), and activites on blog (whatever he wrote there obviously came from his heart, as blogs are there, to express oneself fully that one cannot do openly in the society) .... all these things represent what he truly was from the inside. All his behaviour patterns and acts represent his inner real nature. he was bound to do sthg crazy sooner or later, so how come its his parents fault (did they tell him, that its ok to do such a thing?). have u forgotten, those crazy kids from usa, who after playing GTA, decided to do sthg as crazy as in the game? games, music, dress, and blog-stuff DO represent the person clearly enough. and NO religion/background has got nothing to do with it. he was just one screwed-up kid, who didn't know the value of life. those who don't believe me should watch this film released in 2002 "Bang, Bang, You're Dead", and u will come to know the vulnerable state of a teen. Peace to All.

maybe if he is a muslim indian since everybody picks on the muslims these days, but otherwise probably not, unless his crime was motivated by his culture.
and canada's crime rate is ever increasing... too much americanization does that to a country.
