Yes they occur. Usually when two dogs are out and about on the town and encounter one another. One sniffs the wrong way and the next thing you know, they are going at it.
Some humans even sometimes gather animals, Dogs too, to put in boxing rings and bet on them. This is illegal in the United States of America. And the Police do break up these illegal animal fighting rings every so often.

they happen most Friday/Saturday nights in Blackpool town centre. They don't happen as frequently now the pubs close at different times
