i keep the languages fluently, by playing for example biliard in internet, in foreign rooms (all at yahoo), try to chat everyday with your friends, in german by messenger, use the internet, read via internet the papers in germany, magazines like stern, spiegel, you all find them in internet.. even Lindenstrasse has a website!!

Exchanging e-mails is a start. Voice chatting in German would be a good idea. Also I'd try to find a German conversation group in my area.

I can only offer a kind of generic answer.

Try contacting some local college or university to see if any have German language clubs. They may welcome the inclusion of somone from outside the community. Perhaps even some high schools have similar clubs.

My high school (oh, so many years ago!) had a French and Spanish club.

Try to find ways to have conversations with people in German. Check if the Goethe Institut has any conversation classes in your neighbourhood. http://www.goethe.de

Also, to keep hearing goof German on a daily basis, and reading as well, I read and listen to the radio or to the TV programs on Deutsche Welle. Very helpful to get regular input in German. http://www.dw-world.de/dw/0,2142,265,00.html

It all depends on where in the UK you will live. Usually it helps if you maintain a daily contact with German speakers, but if there are none around you can practise by leading newspapers and magazines (www.sueddeutsche.de or www.spiegel.de) or listening to the radio
(http://www.dradio.de/ or http://www.br-online.de/)
