Flowers for no reason are always a good idea. Flowers for birthdays and things like that are a very bad idea, it requires no thought and is a sign of last minute ideas.

it depends on the girl. there are some women who don't want the flowers (and i know because they've told me specifically... and when i tried giving the some anyway they got mad).
usually i tend to give them a flower, and see how they react... if they like it, i give them flowers pretty often (whenever it strikes my fancy). but if they're against me giving them flowers... i'll tend to try to give them something else they'll enjoy... although it usually ends up being a bit harder to get.

They are out there. Actually dated a lovely guy a few months ago that put a twist on the flowers thing - he bought me potted orchids and calla lillies (two separate occasions).

Believe it or not, a few of us do. Even though we seem to find girls wanting them less and less or rolling their eyes at us when we do. So if it's a practice in decline, blame your fellow ladies for discouraging us. My personal take on it is this: if it fits the situation and the woman involved then I like to have them delivered to their work place so everyone knows she's on my mind.
