there are 2 things you could do:

1) any time you see her go to do her business pick her up and put her in the litter box. when you see poop laying around put it in the litter box she will get the idea

2) you can confine her to a small room with her litter box and some water and she will learn she has to go in there or she will be living in it which she won't want to do.

If this kitten has been living outside she has been using garden dirt for her bathroom business. So you can just spread a little layer of that on top of the litter in the box for a while. Once she starts using it then she will use the litter that you provide for her and the other kitten.

Kittens will usually share a litterbox with another kitten (she may not recognise the one you have as a "sister"). And it is a good idea to have extra boxes around. The litterbox rule is: # of cats +1. Remember a kitten shouldn't have to search for a box. They are immature neurologically just like babies and toddlers and can't always "hold it" if they have to go far to eliminate.

Put the box in one of the corners she's using as a toilet, and put her waste and her in there any time she goes somewhere other than the box. Take her paw and gently move the litter around with it. Cats prefer to dig and bury their waste, so once she gets the idea, it should be easy to keep her using it.

Make sure you get the smell out of the areas she's already used as a toilet. Because if it smells like a toilet, she'll think it's a toilet and may try to use it again.

If she hasn't yet been to a vet, you may want to consider it. Certain infections can cause pain during defecating. If a cat experiences pain while defecating, he/she will start to avoid the litter box because it associates the box with the pain.

Good luck!

(And there's nothing wrong with spraying a cat with water when it misbehaves....it won't make it mean. Hitting it can, but spraying it with water is perfectly fine.)

put the poopie in the litter box and also the kitten this should help teach the kitten. Also clean the area thoughouly where she has been pooping to help get rid of any scent she has left there

Well, first you need to put a litter box where the kitten normally goes, now she will start using the kitty box, after a while she will become accustomed to it and you will be able to move the box and along the "poopie" should go with it

there are a couple different things you can do.

1. take him to the vet first to make sure there is nothing wrong with him physically.
2. if he is cleared physically, it might be that he doesn't like his litter. try switching to an unscented litter or a different brand even.
3. when you clean up his mess, don't rub his nose in it, it will only piss him off. pick up the poop w/ tissue and drop it in the litter box.
4. make sure he knows where the litter box in and has some privacy.. maybe an enclosed box? if he has an enclosed box, maybe he needs the lid off for a while becuase he is scared of it.
5. they also make a litter that attracts cats who aren't using the box. i believe it is called cat attract.
6. have there been any major changes in you life lately? a move? new pet? new boyfriend? etc? this can affect your cat and stress him out more than you may realize
7. when you clean up messes out side of the box, use and enzymatic cleaner such as nature's miracle or petzyme. also, using a blacklight helps to make sure you've gotten it all.
8. keep the box clean as well
9. if your cat is always messing in a certain spot, put the litter box in that spot

whatever you do, don't hit the cat, spray it with water, or rub it's nose in it. cats don't respond to discipline. it just makes them mean. but DO reward positive behavior. when you see the cat step out of the litter box after pooing, give him a treat

Try a large cage and put him a litter box in it with room for food and water and him, keep him in it till he gets used to the litter box then try leaving the door open on the cage so he can come and go, One of my cats started that cuz he was mad about my other one not covering her stuff up in the box! To this day i keep 2 boxes side by side with no more problems! The cage really worked. He realized he had to use the litter box!

Try moving the litterbox to the corner she is using. You can also try placing her poop in the litterbox and then letting her sit in it so she can see that you are putting her poop there. It can take some time to get her used to it. If you had an adult cat that knows how to use it, that would be the best because kittens seem to learn from the adults. In the past, I've had kittens that never once went anywhere other then the litterbox and no one taught them other then their mother.

ok to start off you need to really clean those corners with clorox. u can try to lock the cat in the restroom with the litter box for awhile so they can start to understand a lil. or if another cat is pooping in the litter some cats wont go where another is. or u may try some drops they sell at the pet store its really for dogs but it does work on cats i used it for my cat u drop it in the litter box and i guess the scent of it attracks them to go in the box.
